Public art by Leandro Erlich completed in Fukuoka.

The location was the newly opened "ONE FUKUOKA BLDG." in the Tenjin district, Fukuoka, Japan. The new "Pixel Tree" was opened to public as a new landmark for Fukuoka on April 22, 2025. As for the opening reception, the artist gave a talk to the public.
Concept of the work:
In a world where technology and digitally produced images have become common
representations of our reality, a new cosmography emerges. It is a virtual world that
transcends its immaterial existence, inviting us to traverse it simultaneously alongside our
natural surroundings. This reflection on our existence and the hybrid nature between the
virtual world created by technology and our natural world inspired the creation of the Pixel
Tree. This tree stands tall with a trunk resembling that of a traditional tree, while its
crown—composed of green or perhaps pink hues—represents the vibrant top of the tree,
reminiscent of blossoming cherry trees. In this sculpture, the pixel transcends its
two-dimensional nature, taking on a sculptural and three-dimensional character,
symbolizing the bridge between our digital realm and the beauty of the natural world.
